Ingredients:
1 lb ground lamb (or beef, for a variation)
4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 onion, finely chopped
2 carrots, diced
1 cup frozen peas
1/2 cup beef broth
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup milk
4 tablespoons butter
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup grated cheese (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Boil potatoes until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain and mash with milk, butter, salt, and pepper.
3. In a skillet, cook onion and carrots in a bit of oil until soft. Add ground lamb, cooking until browned.
4. Stir in frozen peas, broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until thickened, about 10 minutes.
5. In a baking dish, layer the meat mixture, then top with mashed potatoes. Sprinkle with cheese if using.
6. Bake for 20 minutes or until the top is golden and crispy.
